The iconic Zlata Praha (Golden Prague) restaurant at the Golden Prague Hotel managed by Fairmontmoves to the very top among the Czech restaurant scene after being recognised with two different prestigious accolades. Zlata Praha was rated the second best restaurant in the Czech Republic by the Mauer’s Choice Award Grand Restaurant 2019 and received three Golden Lions (the highest possible rating) in TopLife's restaurant ranking in the Czech Republic. The Golden Prague’s team was recognised for premium gastronomy, quality of service and the unique atmosphere of the venue overlooking the magical Prague Old Town.
The renowned Zlata Praha Restaurant has been on it’s culinary peak since the 1970's, when it was opened at the Golden Prague Hotel managed by Fairmont, the first Czech luxury international hotel. Last year, the venue underwent a full reconstruction and introduced a new ‘Farm to table’ concept to its patrons based on an experience built on quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients grown organically or reared with the best husbandry by local farmers and then prepared and served with the utmost care by the culinary team of the hotel.
"I am really glad that the public has responded so positively to the new concept. We are honoured to have such excellent chefs as Roman Dolejs and Tomas Vanicek and the rest of the team both in the kitchen and service areas, whose professionalism and attention to detail has set us apart from our competition and helped us to provide a unique experience for our guests," claims Robert Rudge, General Manager of Golden Prague Hotel managed by Fairmont. The top-level service is certainly a priority for Zlata Praha – for this category, they received the highest score in the whole country.
And how were the restaurants rated in both competitions? "Each year we award 10 best restaurants, which are evaluated in three different criteria - food, service and interior. Evaluators are independent volunteers from the wide and expert public who have visited these restaurants secretly and on their own expense. This year, we collected 6,783 evaluations from 1,532 people," said Pavel Maurer, organizer of the competition.
TopLife Czech grants restaurants one, two or three ‘Lions’ depending on how the restaurant was rated by independent evaluators. "We cooperate with about fifty gastronomy professionals who go to restaurants on a regular basis and judge not only the quality of the food, but also the service and atmosphere of the place, which we believe is a necessary part of the evaluation," says Jiří Pašek, Director of the company.
In the current autumn menu of Zlata Praha, you can try for example the Deer Sika from a venison farm in Chlum, whose meat was marinated in a herb-salted marinade and then slowly drawn, or tartar from Czech strawberries from the Polička farm with truffle pears, celery straw, and whipped with Jack Daniels whiskey jars. Everything suitably complemented by a wide range of local and international wines.

Maurer's selection and ranking TOP 10
Maurer's Choice Grand Restaurant is an independent national survey, which annually presents around 1000 of the best and most interesting restaurants in the Czech Republic. The restaurant evaluates both gastronomy professionals and the general public according to the quality of food, service and interior.
The results of the evaluation are not published on an ongoing basis, but only once a year on the official announcement. They are valid throughout the following year until the results of the next Grand Restaurant Award are announced.
TOPLIFE Gold Lions
TopLife Czech publishes the best restaurants of the Czech Republic every year and honours them with Golden Lions. The Lions are awarded based on the results achieved by the evaluators who are recruited from the most demanding visitors of the best restaurants in the Czech Republic and abroad, repeatedly attending all the rated restaurants and comprehensively assessing individual categories. The food, its appearance, taste, aroma and originality are in their focus. The quality of the food offered, along with the professionalism of the staff and the restaurant environment, is a key element in the quality of the restaurant.
